VANILLA & ROSEMARY

Vanilla & Rosemary Potatoes

* New potatoes, faned 3mm
* Olive oil
* Vanilla extract
* Fresh rosemary
* Sea salt

In a large bowl, toss all of the ingredients together until the potatoes are covered in oil.
Bake on a tray 210°C for 1 hour


The first film Reiniger directed was Das Ornament des verliebten Herzens (The Ornament of the Enamoured Heart, 1919), a short piece involving two lovers and an ornament that reflected their moods.

QUINCE & GOATS CHEESE

Baked quinces with goats cheese

* 2 quinces
* ½ lemon
* 250ml water
* 2 tbsp honey
* 3 cloves
* 1 star anise
* 1 stick cinnamon

Preheat the oven to 180°C.
Half  & peel the quinces, rub with lemon in half .
Poach the quinces with all the ingredients for about 30mins
Put the quinces into a baking tin with a little of the syrup & bake for another 30 minutes until tender.
Serve with goats cheese


Right from the onset they were taught that there should be absolutely no distinction between form and function

RHUBARB & SLOES


Rhubarb baked in sloe gin 
(Recipe from Nigel Slater; Tender II)

750g rhubarb
100g sugar
120ml sloe gin
2tbsp water

Bake 160°C for 40mins – 1 hour

A little madness in the Spring

SWEET POTATO & RHUBARB

Sweet potato & spring fruit soup (Serves 2)
Adapted from Covent garden soup book

1 large sweet potato, large cubes
2 spring onions
¼ green chilli
¼ tsp ground coriander
1 lemon zest
120g rhubarb, chopped
50g dried apricots
½ tsp honey
50ml dry white wine
350ml stock
Salt & pepper

Fry the sweet potato in a little butter until coloured then add the spring onion, chilli, ground coriander, lemon zest.  Cook for a few minutes then add the rest of the ingredients.  Simmer covered for 20-30 mins then puree.  Season.   


Literature experienced a similar great divide, thanks to an increased self-consciousness and a transformation of its means of expression, shifting from the essay and novel to the fragment.
